Star Barbed Wire

Star Barbed Wire

It differs according to its hardness, number of thorns and thickness. It is produced in fully automatic machines in seven different types. Barbed wire is the most important fence product in history as indispensable for garden fence and wire fences. Its functionality and being economical are the main reasons for being preferred.

Brief History of Barbed Wire

Fencing became a hot topic for newspapers, agricultural publications and the government. In 1871, the Land Department of the US Department of Agriculture published a study identifying that western settling was impossible because of the absence of fences.

But the solution came: Barbed wire.

Many different patent applications have been filed for barbed wire-like fences. However, the resulting barbed wire design was won by Joseph Glidden. His design could not slip around the wires, with sharp metal barbed wires twisted around the sharp wires, and an intertwined part of the wires.

Glidden's design was removed, and until 1876, the company produced about 3 million pounds of barbed wire per year.

Joseph Glidden appeared in the 1884 journal Prairie Farmer.

Barbed wire fences were a direct violation of the "open field law" and could also harm cattles.

There were attempts to design a more "human" barbed wire, making it easier for cattles to see and avoid.
